Product of the year: botany

Product of the year: immune support
CV Defense is a listing from CV Sciences, a leader in the hemp / CBD space. Based on this product category, the company introduced CV Defense, which contains PEA (palmitoylethanolamide) as its main active ingredient.
Discovered in 1993, it is known that PEA regulates certain immune cells in parallel with the endocannabinoid system. Some companies have viewed the molecule as one of the ways to affect this system in the body without opening Pandora’s regulatory box that uses an actual cannabinoid ingredient.
CV Defense also contains vitamins A and D, selenium, zinc, and a beta-glucan ingredient, all of which are designed to support immune system health. For PEA, the company claims that six clinical studies involving more than 3,000 subjects have shown it has clear immune system health benefits.

This year’s winner comes from ChildLife Essentials, whose ChildLife Essentials Omega-3 DHA + Choline SoftMelts provide essential nutrients that children need for the healthy development of their brain and nervous system. The product provides DHA and EPA, choline and vitamin D3 in a patented chewable tablet that improves compliance.
The judges found that the improved bioavailability of an emulsified fish oil in a gel matrix is supported by research.

The company characterizes the product as a “psychobiotic”, with impressive research results showing the product’s ability to support cognitive functions during times of stress.

Winner of the Year: Sports Nutrition
Health Currancy UK Ltd is the source of this year’s winner CurraNZ. The product, which occupies a “superfood” position, is based on the antioxidant benefits of the raw material, black currants grown in New Zealand. The growing conditions of the island country with cold winters and high UV values due to the proximity to the seasonal thinning of the ozone layer over the South Pole lead to a higher expression of anthocyanins in the raw material.
“When I started this journey with New Zealand currant extract, little was known about its properties. We have determined that a scientific evaluation is critical for the product to gain traction and acceptance in the international sports nutrition sector, ”said Fleur Cushman, CEO of Allergosan USA.
