Best Diet Supplements For Men: Omega-3s May Improve Seed Count And Reduce Your Risk Of Heart Disease

Dietary supplements are essential in this day and age, especially in our fast paced lifestyle where we are constantly overworking, sleeping, overtraining, and recovering, in addition to poor stress management and eating habits and perhaps even a sedentary lifestyle. Dietary supplements make a huge difference to health as a vitamin and mineral deficiency can lead to health problems. In men, this can be prostate problems and low testosterone levels, or even poor heart health. Omega-3 fatty acid supplements are recommended to help improve men’s overall health.

Omega-3 is an essential part of cell membranes throughout the body and affects the function of cell receptors in these membranes.

They form the starting point for the production of hormones that regulate blood clotting, contraction and relaxation of the arterial walls, and inflammation.

They also bind to receptors in cells that regulate genetic function. Probably because of these effects, omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to prevent heart disease and stroke, fight lupus, eczema and rheumatoid arthritis, and play a protective role in cancer and other diseases.

Omega-3 supplements are also very beneficial for testicular health.

A study published in the National Institutes of Health of the US National Library of Medicine examined associations with the use of fish oil supplements with testicular function in young men.

The study states: “Many young men have poor semen quality and the causes are often unknown.

“Ingesting omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids has been found to improve semen quality in men with infertility.

“This cross-sectional study included young Danish men from the general population who were recruited from compulsory exams between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2017 to determine their suitability for military service.

“Young, unselected men were approached after the investigation and invited to take part in a study on reproductive function, regardless of their suitability for military service.

“Of the 1,679 young Danish men recruited to participate, 98 men reported having used fish oil supplements in the previous three months, of which 53 were ingested for 60 days or more.

“After adjustment and compared to men without supplement intake, men with fish oil added had a higher semen volume on less than 60 days and men with fish oil added had higher semen volume on 60 or more days.

“Similarly, the testicle size was larger in men who took supplements for less than 60 days, and men who took fish oil supplements were larger for 60 days or more than men who did not.

“After the adjustment, men on fish oil supplements had follicle-stimulating hormone levels 20 percent lower and luteinizing hormone levels 16 percent lower than men without supplements.”

There is a huge body of evidence suggesting that the “good fats” in salmon, nuts, and chia seeds are essential for the healthy functioning of your body – especially for active men, said Kylene Bogden, a sports dieter at the Cleveland Clinic Medicine Function Center.

He continued, “Omega-3s can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which leads to less sore muscles after exercise.

“It is particularly effective for endurance athletes who have more oxidative stress due to their remote training. If you’re an endurance athlete, you should probably be taking an omega-3 supplement – getting what you need through nuts, seeds, and oily fish can be a little difficult. “

As with most dietary supplements, it is highly recommended that you consult your family doctor before taking them.
